New form of vodka dosing LOL no but I would never try it just sounds nasty and a shrimp is a few cents by comparison LOL

dont use fish for cycling; its just wrong. Sorry if I sound hypocritical because i used a maroon to cycle my 10 gallon, but thats because i cant find a home for it and had to leave it in an uncycled tank

    so, i think I have a problem!
I took the filter/media cartridge out of my JBJ Nanocube when I put the shrimp in to cycle (about 2 weeks ago). I saw an ammonia spike but no nitrites as of yet. Being a little anxious, I did some research about keeping the filter in while cycling and read that the cycle will not happen unless the filter is in! SO the question is.....

Have I delayed my cycling process by two weeks?

I would put the maroon out of it's misery imo, a uncycled tank is like living in the sewers.

It'll drop off in time and i would go ahead and put your filter basket in.IMO it would have no or little effect with the cycling of your tank.
