I believe they are talking about a table shrimp, not a live shrimp.

Ya, were talking about a dead table shrimp. I wouldn't dare put a live one in a cycling tank!

I apologize, like I said I didn't read the whole post before I posted, which of course is my stupidity.

takingvapes - Your name implies that you like to get stoned... and your calling me an idiot? You won't get very far in life with that attitude. I made a mistake and I apologized. Story over.

Also, just for future reference, I still think the cocktail shrimp cycle is a terrible idea. I would never in a thousand years start such a delicate system with a dead decaying creature. I understand the science behind it but like I said, patience is all you need.

That's how all cycles start. The only difference here is starting with one from a grocery store instead of creatures that have died on live rock put into the tank...

If nothing dead is in the tank, you're going to have to have a LOT of patience because no cycle will ever start. The only other alternative is adding ammonia.

Heck when i first did mine I used a live fish *WHICH WAS A BAD IDEA AND WRONG* but at the time I didnt know better and have learned but using a dead shrimp from the store is alot more humain and works alot better IMO. (It was a blue damsel and hes still alive and doing quite well)
