I have Cyano from the LFS so I also have dry rock coming in a day or three. If I put in Cheato for the Cyano battle will it also kill my coraline from the new rock I will get in tulsa to seed my dry rock with? reefcleaners is out of cheato so who else has it?
    I am in a pickle:cry:

not at all Coldshot - they both take mainly different elements out of the water so dont compete
coralline utilises calcium and magnesium - whereas Cheato utilises Nitrates, phosphates etc

    Not to hijack.....
Can one add Chaeto directly to the DT? I do not have a refugium so I'm wondering if it will wreak havoc or if I can control it pretty well by keeping an eye on it....
Same question to pose for Ulva.

Yes you can, but it could get eaten depending on what you keep

You would think it would, but cyano is like kung-fu algae - once it takes hold it is hard to get to let go. I respect that you don't want to use chemicals, though. What are your nitrate and phosphate readings?

Keep in mind that because the cyano is using it, the readings may come out lower than they actually are. How much cyano do you have now?

You can put chaeto in your DT, keep in mind before it establishes itself in the tank, it will most likely make a mess in your tank. Little bits of it will break and get everywhere, the strands will get stuck in your PHs, skimmer, etc. I had a ton of the little strands sit on the floor of my fuge and they are now growing into their own little chunks now. If you have cyano in your tank, it will also grow on your chaeto as well. At least that happened to mine.
