At what point can you start adding a CUC to a newly set up reef tank?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
When there is obvious algae growth to rocks and glass, typically after the diatom bloom has come and gone. I also do not over stock on snails until they have enough to eat. Hermits I get one or two and I am good to go, they are over rated.

Agreed, do not overstock snails. Start with fewer and add more as needed. It really burns me up to see companies with those cleaner packs that include huge amounts of snails and crabs. Your snails will just starve, die and pollute the water, not to mention that it's not compassionate.

Yeah I took it a few years back, playing with a 50mm lens.
