so when is it safe to add a CUC?

are they sensitive to ammonia, nitrite, nitrate during the cycle?

    when should i add them?

i kinda figured. i have been leaving my lights OFF so that algae doesn't go nuts during the cycle, i was thinking that towards the end, i will turn them on n let some build up...

I'm with Chris, definitely after your cycle. I want to commend you billy because you are soliciting advice along the way and being patient. I know it's hard because I sense your enthusiasm in your posts :) you will be so glad you listened to great advice and made the effort to do things right from the start. You will be a good hobbyist :)
