    Hi all happy new year, can anybody ID this crab I found him hanging out tonight in my display tank hopefully he's reef safe no idea how to get him out.

    I'm not sure but it is shaped like an emerald

    Yes but it has black and white stripes with black claws

    Looks to be a Ferocious Reef crab.Eriphia ferox I would make a trap and remove it.Are its eyes red? Hard to tell by the pic. It could also beParaxanthias notatus .

    Definitely remove him, I had a emerald crab that ate multiple fish. Including a fish that was only an hour old :( . It was very hard to remove him, I had to take live rock out of my tank!

    It looks really small for this...but the claws and legs look like a Stone Crab. Assume it hitch hiked in on Rock? Where did you get the rock from?
