CPR has come up with with some very small footprint reactors for you bio-pellet fans out there. Pictured are the CPR beta model Mini and Nano Reactors that will be in limited release by the time you read this through Ameka Aquatics. These betas, due to popular demand, will be in advance of the production models coming later this year. Both the Mini and Nano reactors feature low-flow pumps with dispersion strainers inside. CPR also has a black in-tank cover for the nano version. Simple and small. Gotta love them. Nice work CPR.

    The CPR Mini Reactor measures 4.75" x 3.25" x 10.5" with pump.
    The CPR Nano Reactor measures 1.75" x 3.25 x 11" with pump.

Beta models are for bio-pellets only. Production models will be able to work with granular media.

MSRP: $45 for the Nano Rector, $50 for the Mini and $25 for the Nano Cover.

More details soon on the 3reef CPR forum board.

The strainers are where the water exits at. They also keep the pellets in the canister, as the pump is directly below and pumps straight up.

Yup, much simpler design than most reactors. It actually makes more sense for solid media.

The CPR rep at MACNA did state that the strainer on top are just prototypes and they will be a different design once the final product is released but very similar

Just to add to some of the initial information, we have also run smaller sized media inside of bags inside of the beta reactors, and it seems to do fine with many types of smaller media; however, it's not something we are necessarily recommending with the beta models, since that issue will be better addressed with the production units. We also want to tell customers what else could be done with the beta units right now while still acknowledging the things that will be addressed.

The video linked below has Chemi-pure running inside a Nano reactor which has carbon and as well as granular elements mixed in. We have noticed that running very fine media packed in a bag sometimes does not fluidize quite as well due to the density of the bagged media and the bag itself (usually the bags used with this type of media has a lower micron rating making it denser). See below for an example:

    Russ,

Your new products are awesome. Thanks for your creativity.

(Also thanks to you and Reef Nutrition. My Gracilaria is growing well. There was a French Angel on the latest shipment and it wouldn't eat ANYTHING.....then I brought some gracilaria from home, rubberbanded it to a piece of rubble and it went to town. Once it started eating, it would accept other foods as well You guys saved a fish :)). ~ Curt

    shackmel,
We don't have a release date for the production models yet. We are still working through some options for the lid/top. We are hoping to have the production models before Christmas, but there may be some unexpected hiccups. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, we are making the beta models (just like the ones in the video) available to the public through Ameka Aquatics. There are several work-arounds for using granular media (which work well), so the beta product carries virtually all of the functionality as the planned production models. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Curt,
Thanks! It was nice seeing you at MACNA and I'm really glad to hear about your French Angel! The folks at Reef Nutrition really do a nice job with their products. Look forward to catching up soon.

This video shows the Nano and Mini BETA reactors running smaller sized media inside of it. A simple addition of micron mesh material makes the BETA model Nano and Mini reactor an excellent reactor for any sized media. In the Nano Reactor, we have Phosban inside and in the Mini Reactor we have Chemi-pure running inside. In each instance, we just used the media bags that were included with the media. Note that the valves are turned down a bit for both reactors. Just wanted to show the flexibility of the BETA reactors...
