My lfs sold me a huge bucket of the stuff and I have been hearing that it is actually bad for a reef tank. Is this true?

i've used both seachem and coralife. i notice no immediate difference. seachem seems to mix up a little bit quicker though.

I noticed the same....but I started to use reef crystals (because it was all they had on this day)...except its double in price...I don't see its worth it... tho they say it is.....any comments on reef crystals?...why is it so much?
I have always used instant ocean for the past year....no worries.

I like IO Reef Crystals. I have been using RC for months now and love the stuff. Regular IO is alright also, but RC has more stuff in it suited for reef tanks. I have also used Oceanic, which does not go into solution very well. I don't like that brand.

RC seems to disolve and mix better than Coralife. Coralife also seems to leave a crusty hard residu on the sides of my mixing container that I have to clean after each water change. Coralife also has a higher calcium level than RC or IO. Not sure if one is better than the other besides that.
