I picked this up at LFS and not sure what it is. Just like the color and looks of it. Anyone have any idea?

Image is pretty distorted but it kinda looks like hydnophora.

If it's hydnophora, don't let anything, coral wise, get near it. It has a very nasty sting and can out compete just about anything else in the tank. If have seen smaller hydnos consume entire acro colonies. BTW I have one in my tank as well and they are cool. Fast growers and good movement.

After you ID it for me I did read how aggressive they are. I have about 5" between it and some soft coral. Hopefully that will be enough. If not I may move it to the sand bed.

Make sure you have it high flow to keep it from extendign its sweepers as far.

John, I'll have to get you a pic of mine. Mine is directly in front of a koralia 4 and it's tentacles are way out there. Those are just polyps though and not it's sweepers.

A buddy of mine had a piece of hydno fall off of his rock, bounced off of his torch and killed the head that it bounced off of. It is a nasty nasty coral but very pretty.

Thanks for the advice. It is in about the highest flow area in my tank so hopefully it will be nice.

Killed by bouncing off it?? Hmmm. Maybe I should move it to the bed now instead of later.
