I purchased some corals from a friend yesterday and would appreciate some help with ID so I can research the best place in the tank for them (height, flow, etc). I know the red / green is a type of brain coral but the other one I have no clue (it is not in any of the books I have).

    I appreciate the help!

First one looks like Trachyphyllia to me, but it could be one of the other "brains". The second one looks like favia/favites to me.

Regardless, they both will be fine with similar care, relatively low/medium light, low to medium flow, both don't need target feeding but probably will eat meaty food when they have feeder tentacles out.

the first brain i had one that looked exactly like it. the lfs had it listed as a santa claus java brain. prob not the real name , but sounds good. i agree with screwtape on the other being a favia.
