My wife bought me a coral and its my first. I think its a branching frogspawn. The thing is that it is dark green at the base almost all the way to the head. Is this a bad sign for my coral? This is the way I got it from the LFS.

    Thanks Davids Reef

Yea but its a smaller frag, the base was not green at the store 2 weeks ago. My wife bought it for me without knowing. if you have an email address I could email it to you???

Things don't always look the same in your aquarium on how they look in the lfs, this I have learned do to lighting, diet, parameters, temp.and stress these all can play factors in health and appearance

Do you think if I do all those things properly it could come back? Or do you thinks it's going to die??

Sure, you should be ok. they tend to bleach out in the store, and after a few weeks in our tended to tanks, they get their color back and look great.

Sure looks like a torch to me, rather than a frogspawn.

However, the advice you've been given is valid for either.

the green you are referring to is the bone and it is green because phosphate has been incorporated into it. the bone should look tan at the bottom after it has hardened and is done growing

Your getting all worked up for no reason :)

Looks like a torch to me as well.
