I have been wanting a coral beauty, and I have got mixed reviews about if they are reef safe or not. What are your experiences with them?

Its a 50/50 with all dwarf angles IME..I have seen some where they dont touch corals for 2 years and then they start pickin at corals. And some where they dont touch any forever, and some that immediately start eating..Its a risk that is up to you.

Just remember, you buy one and it eats corals..You are gunna have to get it out, and you may have to rip out your tank to do so.

2 negative experiences for me Kristiavi

I have had 2 coral beauties in 2 different reef set ups over the years
and both have browsed on coral sooner or later

1st one seemed focused on 1 particular leather coral, and I dont recall ever seeing it pecking at anything else
I dont recall any damage being done, but this did cause the leather to retract polyps on regular basis, thus I worried for its long term ability to sustain itself under those conditions and removed the beauty for this reason

other one, seemed to peck at anything and everything over the course of a day
which started almost immediately upon introduction to the tank

just an idea, but maybe introducing the angel before the coral might help with the nipping.

but i see you already have the tank set up, so yeah its the whole 50/50 shot

Pygmy angles seem to vary a bit and it's always hit or miss. That said, CBs seem to be slightly more risky based on what others have reported, although that could also just be because they are more common.

Mine used to nip at my SPS when it was hungry, other than that it was a model reef citizen, but I really think it's hit or miss.

mines a positive..i had a flame angel and it did great..never touched a coral..but when i moved into more rare expensive corals, i gave him up, just couldnt take the chance..

and just cuz the angel doesnt nip stuff for a few months, doesnt mean one day when u come home, all ur sps and zoas are torn up..
