    I think i may have a commensal shrimp as a hitch hiker. Can someone post links so i can ID it. I dont have a camera with me right now.

    it looks exactly like these:

    just happen to see another thread... so take this with a grain of salt, but that appears to be a shrimp that lives in a clam harmlessly based on another thread I just read...

    but I don't stand by or against that statement... take it as you will.

    Those are commensal shrimp. They're harmless to your clam. In fact, they help your clam. They clean detritus off of the clams gills. I don't know the species though.

    Thats what i thought it was. I just like to confirm things. The shrimp came out of the clam during shipping and I just happened to see it as i was taking a few other hitchhikers off the shell and bag. Got a nice squamosa, 3 stomatella snails, and 1 commensal shrimp...wooohooo

    So...how do I get the shrimp back in to one of my clams?

    As long as none of your fish eat it for dinner, it will disappear one day into one of your clams.
