I noticed these things growing on the underside of one of my pieces of LR the other day. They spread quickly, but now look to have ceased spreading. Any idea what it is? Looks almost like a cobweb and there are multiple bunches of them, about 1/2"-1" in diameter...

I did not see anything in that thread that even resembled what I have going on, but thank you.

The guy at my LFS thinks it may be some type of sponge and not to worry. Does that sound right???

    80% sponge
    20% hydroids

A better picture would probably eliminate hydroids.

Sponge. A lot of the sponges that live under rocks are pretty undefined in shape.

Thanks for all the input...since the original post, they haven't spread.

I'll stick with sponges for now and hope nothing changes...
