Hope he's still alive.
Still alive as of this evening. While he has not moved from the bottom of the tank where he was sitting last night he is still kicking. Water has been brought up to full theraputic level of cupramine. He just sits ther and rolls his eyes at me. I am keeping the lights dim. I have not tried to feed him yet. I am leaving him alone as much as possible and only entering the room twice daily. Current temp is 75 degrees. All params are in order. It is a waiting game. I think I might try to feed him if he ever gets up off the bottom and starts swimming around.
well good to know, if i lived in your state i would make a trip to lend you a 40 gallon or something, oh well. hope all goes well
It wouldn't hurt to try a small piece of raw scallop or shrimp to see if he's interested. Good to hear he's still hanging in there.
Tried krill soaked in garlic and he wouldnt touch it tonight. I am beginning to have some serious doubt about his survival
A trigger that won't eat is a problem. How are the spots looking so far? If he can hang in for a few days, he may pull through. I got my Queen trigger to eat small pieces of scallop when she was very sick. This was after trying garlic soaked shrimp. I had to place the scallop directly in front of her face so she could smell it. It saved her life by getting her to eat just a bit at a time. Triggers go nuts for scallops.
Might try that. It is still covered in the spots.
Update. To my surprise (And I hope I am not speaking to early) the trigger is still alive and actually looks a little better today. His eyes are clearing up a bit and the millions of tiny white spots seem to be clearing up a bit. Made a phone call to one of the sharpest saltwater guys in the country (IMO) yesterday and he told me to raise the water temp to 80-84 degrees and place a little garlic in the water and keep the copper at a high theraputic level. Still just resting on the bottom but Ive noticed he watches my every move. I gotta get him eating though.
The copper is killing the ich, not a raise in temp, that will only reduce oxygen and cause a little more stress. Also, garlic is only to enhance appetite. Just adding it straight to the water will only make the water smell bad.
It's very significant that his eyes follow you and he's alert.
