cleaning fake things

    getting rid of my saltwater tank going to make it freshwater,had a question have a lot of fake rock had in my saltwater tank want to know how to clean the stuff off of it growing on it so i can use it in my freshwater tank thanks.

    you can bleach the rock that will kill anything thats living on it then you can rinse it and soak for a couple days and you shoudl be good to go. or atleast thats what ive heard ive never actually done it but thats what most ppl say. good luck

    3 days bleach in 50/50 water/ bleach
    3 days fresh water replacing water daily
    3 days with baking soda and water solution
    quick rinse and let sun dry

    fake rock isn't going to be porous like real rock... nuking it is probably overkill.

    I would just wash it with soap and water in the bathtub and dry it out.

    I would just use bleach/water and top it off with sunlight(if available) to dry.

    I had decorative rock and coral for years in my salt water tank. I would take it all out every 6 weeks put it in buckets add 1 cup of bleach to each bucket and let it soak for the time it took to do a water change (about 1/2 hour or so). I then simply rinsed the stuff by keeping water over flowing in the bucket for about 10 min. A little bleach (if some did leech in) is a purifier and will not hurt anything.

    ok letting it soak in bleach since last night and gave the rock a scrub with a brush,thanks again
