Most of the "shield snails" (scutus) are not reef safe
Fleshy limpets are not reef safe
keyhole limpets are fairly reef safe IMO

regular chitons and fuzzy chitons are reef safe. (With that said, they are not aquarium safe if your tank is acrylic.....they will chew the living daylights out of it and then you'll have to drain and repair the marks)

Can you provide a link so we can tell what you're looking at?

I haven't had much luck with limpets actually doing anything constructive...we ordered 3 from reefcleaners, two died, and one just stays on the glass and moves VERY slowly. Fuzzy chitons and normal chitons are very nice additions, they can clean algae like crazy. We have a fuzzy chiton, named Mr. Fuzzy. Or Matt, because his hair highly resembles they hair on my friend Matt.

The only red limpet I can think of off of the top of my head is a fleshy limpet. As stated previously, those are not reef-safe.

Limpets don't ship well. All of mine died.
2 out of 3 of my chitons died, but the one that lived is great.
You won't get a better deal than reefcleaners.

I have noticed a chiton on my live rock. I didn't know what it was until a fellow reefer told me. Here is a picture, such a cool creature.

Nice picture! The fuzzy chitons are pretty cool. One of ours eventually turned pink - his shell was covered in coraline! As Jwin said, we have the same limpet we've had for over a year - boring. It probably moves a half inch a day across the glass. I've never seen it do much of anything!
