That's a good idea. I didn't have much problem replacing mine , but I haven't put the fixture in the aquarium yet. I can imagine it's a pain doing it in the canopy.

I've never had to take off the side with the cords/switches.

Theres one part that I dont understand. Your moon lights are attached to the sliding alum. plate? The only thing thats attached to my alum. plates, are the clear round plastic covers that shield the moon lights. Is there any chance that you post some pics of your unit? Luna

Yep, there's 3 aluminum plates. All three have the moonlights in them. And yes, it is a pita to work on the lights/change bulbs because of it.

Jesus, that was a stupid thing to do(Odyssea). Then in that case, I do have it easier. So in other words, you have to disconnect all/most of the ML from the alum. plates just to be able to slide them? Luna

Yep, and the one in the center can't be dis-connected. You can only slide it over a little bit. Just enough to weasel out/in the new bulb. With the bulb replacement issues I've had, I've actually broken the solder weld in a couple of the moonlights from slidin it back and forth so many times. I'm definitely gonna get those new ballasts soon.

Is there any way that you can attach them to the inside rail or extend the wires or even install one of these to have a quick disconnect. Look at the end of the red/blk wire in the pic of the fan, I dont know what there called. Luna

They have those on the ends, you can't get to them for the middle ones. I would call those a harness.?

Make the wiring longer so you can slide the plates. Is that possible? Luna
