    poke it poke it!! jk. its got to be a sponge. if you cant remove it, it has grown on to the rock... like a sponge.

    I'm starting to think it may be a sponge. I never knew they could be "feathery" and furry. I have a bunch in my tank, but they don't look at all like this. Hmm..I'm still not convinced....but I'm leaning towards sponge!

    It is soft and fuzzy. It looks like a feather boa (see earlier post of pink boa), except growing upwards, like a plant. It's also at the top of the tank growing in direct light (usually sponges like dimly light areas, I thought?).

    some sponges are partially photosynthetic so they actually like light :)

    I doubt it's sponge from your description though.

    I know. It's so weird! I want to know what this is!! Lol I've been searching the web like crazy, and I can't find anything like it.

    idk.. there are some crazy looking sponges out there. but i didnt think about the lighting so now im second guessing what i said. this might be weird but maybe its a sponge with algae growing on it...???
    i like my poke test... use a stick... if you dont think its a sponge i would relieve it of its... command??? is it a new tank or an old tank??
