I hadn't found very much information on this so I figured I'd get opinions. If a fish is captive bred and never comes into direct contact with wild fish is there as much need to quarantine? I know it would be advisable in any situation preferably.

I'd say yes. You never know the conditions of the aquarium from which it came. Think about your investment. Would you want to risk it with no quarantine? I wouldn't, regardless of where it came from.

Also, even if it was never in the same tank with a wild fish, there's still a good chance it was in contact with them indirectly; most fish stores I've seen use one large sump to service several tanks.
