Hellerr, at some point I'd like to get a montipora capricornis for my biocube 29. How do you get them to look like this?
    Tanks.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Flow and lighting and of course stable parameters with special attention to the big 3 (ca, alk, mg)

To get the whirl to them, mod to high flow, acclimating to lighting and give it time.

Routine water changes will be fine if you use a quality salt. As your stony corals get larger you will probably start to have to use a 2 part dosing regime.

Cool. I'll be using coralife salt. I hear it's high in calcium. It will probably be just a montipora or two for now.

mine looked like that at one time but has darkened over the last couple of months. Is that a sign that it is not getting enough light? i know it's probably hard to answer without a picture. i will try to post one when i get home tonight.

Here's a picture of our green monti, a few months old. We have it high light and low flow. It was a tumbnail sized piece that I jammed in a crevace and it's now getting the whirly effect.

I swear montis are the coolest sps. So should I take it off the plug and put it sideways into a rock?

In such a small tank I'd switch to a higher grade salt like salinity for SPS.
