I have a 120 G tank that has been set up and running now for about 5 months now and it currently has a Current Nova Extreme Pro 48 in 6 bulb T5 light kit on it. I was wondering how long do you have to wait to add a clam to a tank? Are they like anemones and you must wait a year?

Also, I know I am lacking on wattage, but what kind of clam could I keep once I get to the point where I could add one? I know nothing about clams, ie placement, feeding, flow, etc. Any inputs are appreciated. Thanks

First, make sure ca, alk, and mag are up in the normal range. Alk 7 or 8, ca 350-450, and mag around 1450. I know people say that clams will absorb nitrates and this is true but they will not tolerate nitrates in excess. Then I would recommend a derasa for a first clam. Croceas are cool too.
