can ick spots come and go?

    My Mandarin (male) has white on his front dorsal fins. They come and go I'm leaning more towards sand than ick. Can ick come and go?

    Ich can indeed come and go but the Mandarin is usually not suseptible to this parasite because of there thick slime coat. Sand will stick to this slime coat so I am pretty sure this is what you are seeing. Do you have other fish in the tank?
