calcium reactor effluent clogging

The ball valve on my reactor seemingly clogs and stops flowing every 1-2 days. I open it and then restrict flow, only to have it clog again.

Any ideas on how to prevent this? My alk is dropping to 2.0 meq/l

 

Why don't you use a pinch valve instead?

I will add, the ball valve does fall into the water, so maybe that's contributing to the issue?

 

The best thing I found was the cheap blue plastic airline type needle valves. Once set I rarely have to mess with it but I bought a pack of them for spares.
