    You didnt read his post carefully. He has 2-250w MH in a 40g. Thats 500w of MH in a 40g tank. Sorry, but thats an over-kill in my book. Luna

    ok, i am not trying to insult your intellegence, maybe my own. My first few times testing calcium with API, i did not realize there are 2 columns of numbers, i started at the second one..oops... So, how many drops did it take to change colors....

    it took 40 drops to turn to the right color. YIKESSS. Soo you think that 12.5 watts per gal is to much??
    salt is good ol' instant ocean

    were you holding the dropper completely verticle, cause drops can vary greatly in size if not.

    IMO yes you could possibly bleach out some corals with that amount of light.

    yes sir. i did one by one shaking after each drop. i didnt believe it but??? i will just order a whole new brand of testing elements.

    Just to make sure I have the correct info. You have 2-250w mh's....right? What about actinics? Do you have any? Luna

    yes i have 2x 250 watt 14,000 k. no i do not have the actinics.

    what kind of salt do you use? you should test your new salt water before you put it in the tank, if it is the problem, then change salts. but do check on your alk/mag levels when you can.
