What kind of livestock do you have in the 36 that you dont in the others? I dare to say that your Mag must be low, considering that your Cal is at 460. luna

What are the sizes of all your tanks? Are they all equipped the same way? Do you have any corals in the other tank? Corals will comsume Alk and Cal much more than a fish only tank. Luna

well 36 has a lot more corals in it then the 75 does. it has also been running for a year longer. I was just using comparison to make sure test were on track. I have no doubt that the consumption of my smaller tank will be higher but my main consern is trying to bring alk back into alinement. should I dose alk or should I wait for test. I know that alk will only help stablize ph but ph is fine so i guess should I mess with the machine that is working or is it really broke ( metphoricly speeking) just a strange reading that is throwing me off.

Whatever Alk buffer product you use, whether it be a LFS bought or home-made, will increase your ph. I would do it slowly, like a dripper, and test 1-2 hrs after the last drop has dripped. Dont worry about the ph that much. Out of curiousity(sp), is your house open to the outside air or is it closed up 24/7 like mine is? Luna

Try something, test the ph when the house is closed up and when it is all open. Luna
