Built my canopy today, or most of it. My two led fixtures should be here mid day tomorrow.

The original canopy was only 4 inches tall and opened from the top.
This had to be modified so I could place my LEDs higher in my canopy.

Here's some photos of the progress

Old canopy being sanded down, I used the same top, just sanded it and will re-stain it.

And the new one being dry fit

And then after being screwed together and glued

I still have to build the doors but that's a job for another day!

Once I stain it I think it'll look top notch! Pretty proud of myself thus far

I'm surprised you didn't sand the top down. You must be confident in matching the stain. But it looks really good. Nice job.

I am going to go with a much darker stain for the whole thing, sanding down stand later this weekend, I'm thinking a dark mocha stain, I love the look of dark wood against a bright fish tank

I did a thread on my local reef forum on my LED installation here:
My AI Sol Super Blue Installation

I found the T track to be great since it allows me to move my LED fixtures front to back or side to side to focus on certain light loving inhabitants.

I stained mine red mahogany. It deff makes the tank pop a lil more & still has a nice wood color to it.

I may go that route also!
