I have this brown algea garbage that covers the sand bed all the time I tested the the ph and nitrite and ammonia all is normal did water changes and cleaned the sponges in the wet/dry but yet it grows back is there any thing I should get that isn't chemical based to kill this stuff? I blast it off the rocks and scoop up most of it with a net but it grows back with in a few days.

Yup! Get that water moving! Higher flow cleared all that up for me! ;D

SO that is caused from dead spots in the tank?

They don't really have to be 'dead' spots. Just slower spots :)

Yea I need to get some powerheads or something I only have the two returns and one powerhead at the current time. I have a uv light connected to the sump can I move that and connect it in the canopy? that will give me another form of water movement.

If it keeps growing in the same place, that tells us what?

    A) The water flow is not very good there.
    B) There are nutrients leaching out of the sandbed there feeding the cyano
    C) Both of the above

My vote is for C and I would recommend siphoning off the detritus in the sand in that area.

Yup, I would agree with that asessment as well. I stir my sandbed , a different section with each water change. I do NOT have a DSB in my display...only about 1 - 2 inches... ;D
Of course, there is no sand in my front right corner (the tang's toilet spot) so his poop does not accumulate there. The powerhead blasts it off to oblivion!
