Has any one had diatom problems when they started using Brute containers for water changes?

Any plastics will leach silicates, if it's a new brute then it will leach some silicates. Until they are gone you very well could see diatoms.

looks like dust algae. When I switched to led's I had a crazy bloom, I could scrap then scrap and an hour later it looked like I had never done anything. I waited two weeks with no avail. Then I had a bacteria bloom (not related to lights, I cleaned out the filter) and opted for a UV unit. Cleared it all up in 2 days.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would get different types of snails, asteria and turbo.

Mag float if you do not have one.

I myself would not buy a UV filter for that issue, but it will not hurt. Just get a decent one.
