OK, simple equation. Set three test tubes on top of my tank brace, wasn't paying attention and lid came down shattering all three and sending a good portion of fine glass into the tank. I've fished a bunch of it out but I know there is more in there. I know it won't degrade or cause problems that way but wondering if there is any other issues I might come across.

Do you have a sand bed?

Yes, fairly deep bed. Rock buried beneath sand for stability for my bulldozer of a pistol shrimp.

No problems with it that I can think of, other than the potential for poking or cutting a finger if you go digging in the sand bare-handed. It'll eventually get buried, so there should be no real issues with your fish.

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. I rarely rummage about in there too much without rubber gloves on.

I did find glass in my hair from this as I was bend over a drawer in front of the tank.

You'll want to vacuum the floor around the tank so pets, kids, etc don't get glass splinters in their paws/feet.

Glass is made from sand SiO2. No issues. Watch for cuts.

Do you have any sand sifting critters? They might cut themselves if there are any sharps in there, dontcha think?
