I have a customer who hates bristleworms. She finds them gross. She traps them, uses arrow crabs to eat them, has her husband grab them, etc. She bought a sandsifting star to clean the sand (in only a 75) against Schackmel's advice. Recently she was complaining about how dirty her sand stays now. My answer, "You don't have any bristleworms and the SS Star ate what little life was left in that sandbed....what did you expect"?

I consider bristleworms an integral part of any clean up crew. In fact, I add them on purpose to new systems.

What are your thoughts and why? (Multiple votes are allowed).

well, i think they are gross. But i really dislike centipedes so that's probably where that comes from. but i know for a fact that they help clean my tank so im okay with them being in there. I appreciate anything that helps keep my tank clean.

Unless they are 1" wide and 3 ft long when stretched they stay in my tank. Yes, I had one that big.

I saw a picture on some thread awhile back where one was like 5 feet long, he had to tear apart his whole tank to get it out. Such a shame, that tank was amazing. I dont remember what site it was, it wasn't on 3reef.

I voted I like them, because I accept that they are valuable members of a CUC
but like many people, they do spook me when moving rock etc and one makes its presence known close up

    beneficial - yes
and at long range, no problem for me

( I have similar views with insects )

That was probably Steve Weast's tank. It was actually a type of worm I would never want. Eunicid worms are not reef safe. They will eat fish as well as coral. However, they aren't your average hitchhiker and luckily rarely end up in people's aquariums. Was this the tank? Oregonreef.com
