There are only 2 small types of bristle worms that are actually bad for the home aquarium. The rest are scavangers, eat uneatten food and stir the sand bed (ie. really good) for your tank.

Bristle worms are very helpful... Be careful though, as some people are susceptible to their stings (Can be painful)... But as long as you are not housing a monster that is wreaking havoc on rock work and such, I wouldn't fret..

    Best of Luck

What everyone else has said. Plus, they are a pain in the butt to try and pull out of rocks, you have to trap them if you want them gone.

A small amount of them is a good thing. They add to your Clean Up Crew, if you have one already. A bunch of them can be annoying, mainly because it's just unsightly. Because they are really creepy sometimes :p

I haven't seen a bristle worm since we got our 6 line wrasse. He killed them all.

If your bristleworms get out of hand, try not feeding so much. Like mostly anything alive, the more food there is for them, the more they will propogate.

There you go. My answer to the tee.

Also, a large one can prey on fish. If you want to purchase a fish or two to handle the population, you could try the yellow-tail damsel or the six (twelve) line wrasse.

I have both a Y-T damsel and an eight line wrasse to do the job in my tank. I don't mind them there. I just don't want one growing too large and then getting stung good when I am moving rock.

If you decide to keep them, they will grow. Count on it. Wear gloves when moving rock. They hide in rock, and when your finger goes into one of their holes......OUCH!!!!!:-X:cry:
