Thanks, I don't think the tri-color par38 is a good option because the red could grow to much algae, and it costs more.

If I can get past the cost, I am considering the TriColor to use along with 2 BoostLD par30s.

Red doesn't grow algae any better than any other colors; it is used in aquarium lighting to round out the spectrum. It should look better over-all and also enhance the fluorescence of reds and greens in corals.

    LOL!!!

I'm actually about to put one over a standard 29g! It will be a SPS tank though and the light will be about 10 inches over the tank. Same setup as the center of my 40B.

Great thread. It made me register. I'm very close to putting 3 PAR30 over my 29g. I do go back a forth a bit on installing the MU135 over it as a different option in lieu of 3xPAR30 lights.

Is the MU135 too much for 29g? Will I risk damaging corals? (SPS)

I think the Mu135 (or the new Mu100) would be ok for a 29. I mean, they recommend 2 for a 75, which is a 4' long tank. BUt I don't think it would be necessary. Maybe if he wants an all SPS tank.

My 29g will be a mixed reef. I am getting 3 Boost par30 bulbs.

    Seano thank for the reply.

I am really leaning that way too, 3 Boost PAR30. This will be the 3rd set of lights on the tank and I'm hoping the last. Just want to really be sure I'm making to correct decision.

Here's the combo I'm thinking of.

    2x 2RB, 1Blue, 1Cool and Neutral @60 Degree (mounted on each side)
    1x 4RB and 1Cool @60 Degree (mounted on rear)

That should look nice, Reese. If I had the money I would probably go that way too. Let us know how that works for you! :) I'd like to see the difference bw that and what I am going to have.

I was able to find someone on another forum selling the previous model of Boost par30s and will be purchasing 2 of the 3 RB/2CW and 1 of the 4RB/1CW form them for a good deal.

i love the boostled par30 bulbs but depending on the size of your nano, i might have mixxed the size but i would maybe go with an ecoxotic par38 or another par38 from a different brand.
