They will do that for a little while, but soon he will be out all the time and will become very bold at feeding time. I wrote a post a few days ago about an incident with my female. She latched on to my left ring finger, thinking it was food. I reacted and yanked my hand out of the tank and she came with it.

Watch out when you feed, they will nip your fingers.

Still one of my favorite fish, though, and no issues with corals/inverts. The two I've got now make five total for me over the years. Great fish!

Did you have any issues with feeding when you first got him?

Never...he ate like a pig with any and everything i fed him: frozen, dried, and even algae sheets! Sorta miss him already. :( Are you having problems feeding him? Frozen brine usually works for me to entice new fish.

Yes, he is pretty shy, He is out all the time, but when you appoarch the tank, he hides. I have read they can be shy at first and can take a week or 2. I have had him for 4 days now.

How's the trigger doing? Mine was shy at first as well.. Now I can not look in my tank without him swimming right in front of my face. By far my trigger is my favorite fish.. Make sure you keep it well fed and you should not have any issues.

No he is not. he goes up to the top of the water and sucks air or bites the water.
