    are bloodworms nutritious for a mandarin?

    my mandarin doesn't hunt at night, only during the day (typical?) and while I have a large pod population (I can see swarms of cope w/a flashlight) the mandarin is still loosing weight.

    I don't think it's very good at hunting. :-/::)

    Anyway, I upped feeding bloodworms to 3-4x a week and it's still loosing weight. I am wondering if the blood worms are really doing anything for it.

    it's not interested in the little mysis shrimps.

    I feed blood worms and my fish are doing fine. The mandarin could have some sort of internal parasite.

    mine never hunted at night either... it just sat in the middle of the sandbed and slept :/

    She also refused to eat any prepared food, even cyclops! So after a month and a half of slowly declining she died. Sounds like your mandarin lol :(

    yeah, does sound similar. it eats the bloodworms, but does not seem to be helping.

    but my question is beyond the mandarin... I am trying to discover if these bloodworms are just filler or if they are actually nutritionally beneficial for fish.

    I am finding yes and no's online and not sure if any of that is based on anything... so I am left in doubt.

    Bloodworms are useful - if in doubt about the nutrients, just soak in Selcon for about an hour before feeding. If your mandarin is eating those, the selcon will help.

    true, but I would still like to know if they're nutritious for the fish.

    Isn't there a ingredients list on the package? Or a break down of crude proteins and whatnot?
