black stomatella??

    Or could this be a scutus? I am leaning more towards a stomatella. I am baffled....

    Oh yes they come in many different colors, although you really rarely see black.

    It's pretty cool looking. It stays on the same rock and goes in the same hole every night. So you think stomatella?

    I am pretty sure. I have seen black ones, different shades of green, brown, pinkish. I would have said limpet but the shell is not prominent enough.

    Sweet snail!

    It seems like a stomatella to me too. Does it move fast like a stomatella?

    I wouldn't say it moves fast, but it isn't slow either. i am sure that doesn't help

    Well, fast is relative. Stomatella snails are much faster than most other snails. If you touch the back part of their foot, you'll see how fast they move.

    I'll confirm that it's a black Stomatella. At one time, the dark ones were called Stomatella nigra, but they've since been lumped back under the names S. varia and S. impertusa, since there were no real differences other than color.

    just so i can start learning about these things did it grown in the tank. like it might have taken years to get to that point or did she like put it in. or was it on the rock when she put it in. ?
