Black algae keeps comming back

    It started on just the sandbed. Comes back in a few days. Was a nuisance till it started spreading to the macro-plants and a spot on one of the corals.

    It is pitch black in person. Black goo when you remove it. Sticks togther and easy to remove in sheets. But, it takes the sand with it.

    I was thinking Blue Green Cyano?

    Only level that seems high is Phosphates at 2ppm

    2ppm is extremely high and you will not get rid of the cyano until it's lowered. Ideally it should be around .03ppm or less.

    I would agree that it's blue-green cyano. And yeah, high phosphates will do that.
    How new is the tank?
