Trying my hand at SPS again. Got a green birds nest last weekend. I have good polyp extension but looks like it's bleaching out already. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421609186.258341.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421609196.345258.jpg

You can see on the second pic on the right side there is a white spot with no polyps.

Temp ranges from 78 to 80 throughout the day. SG is at 1.025. Really can't check the cal, alk, and mag because my Red Sea test kits have never been accurate from the get go. When I test it's always calcium over 500. Alk around 10 and Mag over 1600. Highly doubt reef crystals at 1.025 have that high of parameters. Think my kit is bad.

How long has the tank been running?
Mine has been going down hill lately. It grew like a weed for a year then the last couple months is having issues.
My params are good so can't figure it out.
I was running bio pellets and stopped that. So we will see.

Tanks been up about two years total. Everything does pretty good except SPS. Just checked my levels. Calcium 480. Alk 8. Mag 1600

Are you sure you didn't touch that spot with glue?

Yeah. It's also turning white on the bottom base. Friend of mine says it look like Rapid tissue necrosis.

Is it losong tissue or just turning white and keeping polyps. Birdsnest coral tend to lose color underneath and at the base because it shades itself out with how tightly it grows.

Once I moved mine out of direct light(moved to side) and a medium flow it is much happier. Fastest growing coral in the tank.

It's white. No polyps in that area anymore.
