I was just wondering how often are you supposed to change your bio media. Do you wait until it dissolves or do you just change it out every so often

What specific media are you inquiring about?

Biomatrix media. And foam inserts. I'm curious if I need to ever change these out

I'm not familiar with the biomatrix but you do want to keep sponges cleaned because build up can cause elevated nitrates

Matrix should not be needed if you have lr in the tank. All it will really do is trap detritus.Running gfo would be a much better way of lowering phosphate levels.

I replace my Matrix about once a month.

Although, I run it in a bag, not a reactor, and I have a very low load. Only one lonely royal gramma and a crap load of cleanup crew. I think you have to replace it more frequently if you run a reactor because you get a whole lot more water through it so it traps stuff faster.
