I am not certain, but I think this is a barnacle on the shell of a large nerite snail? I've never seen a live one[barnacle] before. lol. But a quick Google search looks pretty similar to my photo...

I have a bigger one living in one head of my torch. Doesn't seem to bother the coral at all.

Ive noticed I have hundreds maybe thousands of barnacles in my sump, fuge, and in both over flow chambers. Ive never given it much thought to be honest. Do our fish feed on barnacles? Not a one can be found in the tank where all the animals reside. And the more I think of it....not a single sponge in with my animals either. But hundreds, some of them inches around and tall can also be found in all the other areas where my animals cannot get into either. Why dont either go into the DT?

    That's a good question, Ryland.

Thanks. I could see where the sponges would be eaten. Especially by my large Majestic. But what about the barnacles? I just went and double checked and none, nada, zero, zilch can be found in my tank where all of my animals reside.

these are so cool! I have tons of them in my LR which I can see with their little fans but it is really neat that they attach to the snails as well. I got some nerites from reefcleaners and they all have one on them I think.

Your angel may have nailed them. Tangs and wrasses can go for them also.
