    From my understanding...the balling method is just dosing a tank with Mg, Ca and Alk. Well if this is correct and you're asking which people prefer...dosing or using a reactor, If i had a bigger tank i would use a reactor...but i'll just stick to dosing for now

    I've done this. It wasn't called balling then. I had a friend who built a 4500 gallon tank and he couldn't afford to buy that much salt. As a result, we just figured out how to make our own salt. Since I had the chemicals already, I did this. (B-Ionic was putting me in the poorhouse).
