So after selling out all of my livestock including live rock and sand over a year ago, I've decided to start a new tank.
Inclusive of the sump, its approximately 400glas.
I got the aquarium yesterday, it was insanely heavy to say the least.
    A few thoughts and questions;
What are the pros and cons of going bare bottom?
Are 1st gen radion lights compatible with the reef link?
Any tips on setting up and maintaining a larger aquarium?
Thanks and I will post some pics soon.

Congrats! Can't wait to see this. As for your question on barebottom. I have had one for 4 years now. Pluses to me are flow flow flow and lower maintenance. Minuses are not being able to keep most clams or wrasses. Although the later I can't keep with an open top anyway.

Been there done that. Feel free to ask me any ?'s. What size DT?

edit: I have a 300DD and I average about a gallon a day evaporation. That's the only downside I can think of since I do not have an ATO. It's backbreaking setting up a tank this big, but once it's done the tank is well worth it. Reefbruh has all the Hi-Tec gadgets so hit him up for all that! I run my tank FOWLR with about a 2" sandbed. Good Luck with the build.

I think I've becided on bare bottom, I like the lower maintenance because it's difficult to reach all corners of the tank.
I would have liked to keep some wrasses though. I will probably cover it with egg crate till I build I propper cover as I have 10 snowflake morays in a sump in my fish room for about three years now and it's about time I showcase them.

Well, true if I had the resources, I think I would convert my home into a seaquarium.

Thanks for all the responses everyone.

The DT measures 8'x2'x2.5'H so that's 300gals and the sump is about 60 gals plus a small frag tank another 20 gals.
I didn't take into account the amount of evaporation and I live in the tropics. I'll probably have to put an auto top off.
I'll go check out reefbruh's stuff now.

It's turning out to be a pain setting up.
Got all my plumbing done, leak tested and filled up with fresh water.
I think my return pump is way too powerful, two seals in the pic broke when I turned it on but I sourted that out now, just used more glue.
And I will have to make the drain into a durso stand pipe. It's so loud the neighbors could hear it.

The cats seem to like it too.
