anyone have any direct experience with these animals, they are rather awesome....

thx pagojoe (don) for the info in 2007 I found on reef central. im aware they are predatory in nature but i have spot puffer that does not allow me to keep clams anyway....

i was wondering how good they are as a cleanup crew and more important as sand shifters

    cheers
    Jeff

Unfortunately, it's extremely rare for a predator to become a scavenger simply because it's target prey isn't available; some may prey on other creatures, but most will just starve. For the choice few that will scavenge, they usually don't get enough nourishment and end up starving more slowly. Your best sand-sifting scavengers for sw aquaria are fighting conchs and nassarius snails.
