ATO - Opinions from experience

Just like it sounds...
Looking for an ATO and want some feedback....

 

AutoAqua Smart ATO - Automatic Top Off System

This is what I use. Includes everything except for the water resevoir. Switch is magnetic and can be placed wherever you want. It doesn't like bubbles though, so if you have a lot of bubbles near the sensor it will get mad at you and shut off. Micro bubbles are ok but not the large bubbles you can get in the return section of a sump for example.

 

I just picked up a Hydor Snart Level and a tom's Aqua Lifter pump with a 5 gallon bucket from lowes and it is working great. The magnet connected to the sensor is super strong so I am not worried about it moving around.

 

I've used my JBJ for about 7 years now. Great little unit, inexpensive, never a problem with it. Nice safety shutoff feature.

+1...only ATO I would go with. Have one on my 57g and one on my 30 g and never had an issue

 

If you can use gravity in your set up-

you can have the most trouble free, least exspensive, no electricity, no pumps, no sensor
DIY simple to make/customize/assemble ATO that there is out there.

Spectrapure UPLC-II, they don't come any better or more reliable. Been using one for over 6 trouble free years now and its awesome.

 

Depends on what you're using for topoff. I've got my RO/DI coming into a solenoid valve (open for 20 minutes 5 times a day), that goes through a manual float valve, then a backup float valve that cuts power. Autotopoff.com has all you need.

 

im in europe so my choices are some what limited but I vouch for Tunze and all their products
