The powersun is less heavily built and has one or two cooling fans less per fixture. The same otherwise. 6 bulbs should be plenty to cover the width. 8 definitely will but may be overkill. I suggest getting the dimmable fixture is you are going 8 bulbs.

It is considered the best on the market. It is stronger then the other brands with the same amount of bulbs and more efficient. You can definitely go 2 bulbs less than you would with other brands and be in about the same balkpark cost wise.

I think it is pretty good. We have several members who have the fixtures and they seem to be doing wuite well with them. All that is left is to see how well they last in the long run.

    thats my real concern there

its a really cheap fixture price wise but if it doesent last its simply not worth it

the claim is it works up to 30 inchs deep for high intensity corals i thought even the ai sol couldent do that

It depends on the optics, the narrower the optics the deeper it can work.

so lets say i were to do the 180g build

on the top half just acro's and millie's with brains, acans, deresa clams and some lps on the lower half and ends of the aquarium would that be best for the t5 or led?
with the width i thought i would need the 120 optics which than im assuming it wouldent cover the depth properly correct ?

Either lighting system should work. I think the 120 degree optics may be too weak. 80 degree could work and 60 for sure.
