Back in October I got pretty excited when I saw the new ATI LED Powermodule up close. Beyond the usual ATI aluminum slickness, the standout with this powermodule is the 75w LED cluster nestled between T5 tubes. This light combination is fully programmable, dimmable and the T5's should bring more balance to the Bridgelux* LEDs. Coming next month. MSRPs below.

    ATI LED Powermodule Press Release:

Clear Choice Distribution Announces the US Debut of the ATI LED Powermodule

Torrance, CA -- February 25, 2013 -- Clear Choice Distribution, US-based distributor of premium aquarium supplies, announced today that the 24W, 39W, and 54W models of the ATI LED Powermodule lighting fixture will begin shipping in early March 2013 to retailers in the 48 contiguous United States. A one of a kind light fixture, the ATI LED Powermodule combines both LED and T5 lights in a sleek, contemporary aluminum housing.

“This is a stunning fixture,” said JoVette Curtindolph, Account Specialist at Clear Choice Distribution, “the combination of the LED and T5 lighting produces a unique radiance on corals and really makes the livestock in your aquarium shine.”

The ATI LED Powermodule features 75W LED clusters, each with a full spectrum white, blue, royal blue and red LED color channels that can be independently programmed using computer-based control software and are capable of 0-100% dimming. The active cooling system allows lights to run at a more optimal temperature for improved output and bulb-life. And the heavy-duty, curved housing conceals all components, except for the LED power supply.

“A lot of people choose LED lighting for its superior efficiency and control. But others prefer T5s to highlight their coral colors and balanced lighting,” said Oliver Pritzel, President of ATI, “This fixture has it all. There’s nothing else out there like it. And we are thrilled to be able to provide such a unique fixture to aquarists.”

Interesting set up. I think I would use pure actinics for the T5s on this.

If I had some extra cash laying around I would probably upgrade from the SOLS to this.

I wonder if they will be offering just the led clusters for us that already have the t5 fixture. Seems like it would be easy to integrate into any t5 fixture.

That looks amazing. There are so many benefits to combining the two lighting types. Definitely an SPS tank light haha.

Has anyone heard what the color ratio of the LEDs will be? I'm a bit disappointed they may be using Bridgelux LEDs at that price.

Price is outrageous! Just make your own fixture people seriously, for probably less then half the price! Honestly would not be hard to do at all. Make a canopy for your tank, and just mount it all in there.

You could buy a 4 bulb 48" ATI t5 fixture and 2 AI vegas for $200 less! Awesome idea, just not worth the money.

I will admit the smaller fixtures are pretty expensive but I'm looking at the 60" LED + 8 bulb T5. I think the price is right on point for that fixture of that size. The use of bridgelux LED is not too important since this is really a T5 fixture with LED supplements. Besides I htink most would agree that bridglux LEDs perform pretty well especially when being driven with less than 3 watts.

IMO, the only reason that the original all T5 ATI Powermodule was not readily adopted was that it lacked the shimmer of MH. Many MH fans could not do without. This fills that hole. I have not seen long term SPS coloration success with LED that makes me want to go all LED just yet. I am led to feel that somehow something is missing in that spectrum. I can't put my finger on it but I have seen some of those with LED adding T5 to fill that gap and it seems to be working very well for them.

What I like most is that the LEDs are in tight clusters to give a nice point source lighting. It should create awesome shimmer while blending the multiple LED colors evenly. With knowing the value of my corals, I not going to skimp on equipment. Especially if it will be hanging over my tank. I personally like what I am seeing in this all in one package!
