I'm distraunt by the sight I saw yesterday. My beautiful Asphur Angel has pop eye. It looks to be in the early stages but I've only seen it in the stores and have never had this happen to me. There is a clouding and swelling of the left eye. I wonder if he's in pain? With a reef it's hard to tend to these matters as catching him is almost impossible. I will be moving up to a 180 gal soon and that would be the time to get him. Should I just bring him back to the store? Anybody know what to do?

Many sulfa based medications work really well also. SeaChem makes a sulfathiazole and others will have meds labeled Triple sulfa or something similar.

    Good luck!

OK but are these chemicals reef safe?

I would not tell you to use them if they where not .. I have used human antibiotics for close to 40 yrs to treat fish never harmed a thing as of yet.. Just follow the labels instructions on any Mardel Lab package .. Other then Human consumption grade meds these are the only brand I'd use or have used .

Thanks for the info Tangster. I'm keeping a watch on the fish. It seems like the blood red shrimp is trying to help him out so we'll see what happens. I'll pick up those antibiotics and have them ready.

I put the Maracyn plus in last night and it calls for a third and fifth day dosing so we'll keep a watch on the Asphur and see what happens. He does look a little better today.

The Asphur looks like he's back to new again. I felt so bad to see him like that. I don't think his illness was that serious but I caught it at the right time. Thanks go out to the Tangster!
