As reefers, concering RO water specifically, are we wasteful?

When I run my RO unit, I just let the rejected water run right down the sink....for 2 hours. I net just under 6 gallons of good water in that time frame. I imagine it is much the same way for a lot of us. Don't you think that's pretty wasteful? I mean I certainly don't have any suggestions to remedy this, so I don't really have a point. What do you do with your rejected RO water? Do you have any good ideas to recycle it somehow? Is there something I am missing with regards to how water flows through our systems and such?

Our RO/DI is in the garage & we let the waste water drain outside. I realize that being in FL has its advantages (no freezing temps, snow, ice), however, I like to think that we are replenishing the aquifer :)

That's why RO/DI (and any filter that produces waste water) is banned here

Maybe there should be a tax on fish/corals to help save natural reefs.

I have heard that it is really great water to use for watering your plants with or doing laundry with. I am bad and simply let it run into my sewer.

I did not realize that anyplace could ban water units. But guess it makes sense in Nevada or other places where water is not as abundant

This new 3 reef format where the post disappears after you read it drives me nuts.
If you don't know what category it was you have to go searching for it.

Anyway ..nah.. I just want reefs/ocean life to stay good and healthy. Even rivers in Georgia barely make it to the gulf now. The Colorado river doesn't even come close to making it to the ocean now.

Yep. But with the price of tap here, I wouldn't run a RO/DI anyways (though a lot still do). I just came up with a little system to help clean up my tap.
