So we bought some Xenia, and saw a weird tentacle looking thing. Didn't think much of it. Come to learn we have aptasia :/. We have peppermint shrimp, but all of them have ended up in the sump except one which is quite fond of hikari's crab cuisine, so he's useless. Should we get some more of these guys? Is there any sort of spot treatment we can do to get rid of it?

+1 ^^ This is the only thing i have ever heard of that always works. I am not fond of buying livestock to take care of a pest. It seems to seldom work.

Adding a predator to eliminate a pest usually ends in disaster.

aiptasia X does not always work 100% of the time; it usually requires follow ups too. Unfortunately most predators that go after aiptasia also tend to have a taste for LPS and other anemones.

if you can pull it out and treat it in a bucket with the aptasia x you will get a better result.

Pep shrimp work well, but do better as a "team". I have heard single ones wont mess with aptasia, but groups will clean them out. They are harmless other wise and not a pest when the aptasia is gone. I had a major aptasia infestation and the peps cleaned it up and have not harmed anything since their aptasia food source was removed.

I prefer not to use chemicals.

    You can use Kalwasser=Pickling LIme=CaoH

MIx up a small/concentrated mix and use a syringe- needle not needed really,
and squirt it right on it.
only 1-2 cc's should do it. That WON'T mess with your params.
It might take 2-3 trys, always works for me, but then, I've rarely had aptasia anyways- luckily.
