I bought a rock with a couple of yellow polyps on it. I found several aptasia on the underside of the rock and removed them, but am wondering about the center one in the pic. It is more of a mustard color than the rest.

They look like yellow zoanthid polyps to me. Aiptasia is generally brown or clear with white, beige bands on the tentacles and around the mouth. If yours are bright yellow like they look in the picture you just got a good hitchhiker.

Keep those bad boys! You can send them to me if you don't want them! Looks like you got some kind of sponge or tunicate on that rock too. Awesome!

Your gona have to put an arrow on that picture and point to what your talking about.

I don't see any Aptasia. The shape of the tentacles is nothing like Aptasia.

Alrighty, put an arrow. Hard to tell, but it is a lighter color. More yellow than brown though. No bands that I can see.

Consensus is that it is NOT Aptasia. Will leave for now.

    Thanks much.

Definitely Yellow polyps..............NOT aiptasia. Great score, under the right conditions, they will spread like weeds. Luna
